Agricultural Credit Corporation has joined the UN Women's Empowerment Initiative

The Agricultural Credit Corporation has joined the UN global initiative - Women’s Empowerment Principles. The application to join the WEPs Principles was signed by the Chairman of the Board of the Corporation Almat Ashirbekov.

“The mission of the Corporation is to promote the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the development of an accessible and effective financing system. Providing women with equal access and opportunities to implement entrepreneurial initiatives is a very important step for the development of the country's agricultural sector. In this regard, the Corporation will remain committed to the principles of gender equality, including providing women with equal access to lending programs,” noted Almat Ashirbekov, Chairman of the Board of Agricultural Credit Corporation JSC.

The WEPs were developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact in 2010. The document is a practical guide for business and the corporate sector and contains a set of recommendations for promoting gender equality, as well as the empowerment of women in three areas: in the workplace within the company, in working with the consumer market, in the community through the implementation of social projects and interaction with the civil sector.

Today, more than 5,000 organizations in the world are participants in the WEPs initiative, 40 of them are Kazakhstani, which makes our country the leader in the number of companies that have joined the WEPs Principles in Central Asia.
