KazAgro supports export-oriented projects

Agro Credit Corporation is increasing the volume of financing for projects involving the production of export-oriented agricultural products. The investment needs of agricultural producers and processors of agricultural products are growing; to date, the company has financed a total of 298 projects totaling more than 272.7 billion tenge, BOSS-Agro reports with reference to the KazAgro press service.

In August of this year, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin ordered the opening of fish production in every region. According to A. Mamin, the main volume of farmed fish should be in the Turkestan, Almaty, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions. The fishing industry should become one of the basic directions of the rural industry. One of the ways to solve the problem of supplying the population with nutritious food products rich in proteins is fisheries products, in particular, the development of commercial fish farming. Kazakhstan has a huge number of diverse ecologically clean water bodies (the total area of water bodies in Kazakhstan, excluding the Caspian Sea, is about 5 million hectares) on which it is possible to produce environmentally friendly fish products.

According to the Ministry of Environment, over the past 10 years, 13 fish farming projects have been financed in the amount of 13.9 billion tenge with a total production capacity of 3.26 thousand tons of fish products. JSC "Agricultural Credit Corporation" finances projects aimed at the development of commercial fish farming under several programs: "Agroexport", "Agribusiness", "Economy of simple things". In general, ACC’s portfolio includes 10 projects in the area of fisheries development.

In the village of Samarskoye, Kokpektinsky district, East Kazakhstan region, there is a cage farm for breeding valuable fish species. With borrowed funds from the Agricultural Credit Corporation in the amount of 50 million tenge under the Agroexport program in 2018, Kuzmich LLP expanded the farm for the intensive complex cultivation of valuable species of fish (sturgeon, salmon, whitefish), pike perch, crayfish with the production of compound feed and vermicompost in an integrated system. Today, the company grows two types of fish - pike perch, sturgeon, and carp. By 2021, Kuzmich LLP plans to reach a capacity of 100 tons of marketable fish per year. Due to the expansion of production, 30 additional jobs were created.

The second project in the East Kazakhstan region - the Elimay Kokpekti peasant farm - will be put into operation in October of this year. In 2018, the farm received a preferential loan to create a feedlot for 3,000 head. Having started with 150 heads of the Kazakh white-headed cattle breed, Elimay Kokpekti LLP received the status of a breeding farm within 4 years. According to the director of the farm, before engaging in such a responsible task, he traveled to the most advanced countries in beef cattle breeding and tried to implement all this on his farm. Today the feedlot already has 2,000 head of cattle. The farmer plans to export beef to the UAE and China.
