From farm to fork

Starting a new business is never easy. And when producing food, the responsibility increases significantly. From a technology point of view, everything worked out well on this dairy farm. Almost a hundred purebred Simmental cows, milking parlors, a cooler, a separator, two tractors, a pasteurizer, a feed dispenser and other equipment work to ensure product quality. The Bakyt farm, located in the Ulytau region, could not afford to purchase all this at once. The Agrarian Credit Corporation helped.

“Previously, I had already applied for a preferential loan for breeding beef cattle. Last year, we applied for a loan from the corporation again. In Russia, we purchased 96 dairy cows and opened the first dairy farm in the Zhezkazgan region. At the first calving, one cow gives 11 -12 liters of milk per day. We milk the cows in the milking parlor using a parallel method. The animals spend the winter in a stall. We are planning to introduce free-stall housing for livestock," said business owner Manas Asainov.

The farm uses artificial insemination. The farm produces its own hay and purchases feed. The number of dairy cows is planned to be increased to 200; for this purpose, a maternity ward was built this year. Another base is currently being repaired. By the way, the dairy farm is located 90 km from Zhezkazgan in the village of Kengir, and the workshop for the production of dairy products is in the city itself. The mini-workshop produces 4 types of products: milk, butter, cheese, kurt from raw materials of its own production.

It is worth noting that financing a dairy farm is one of the priority areas of activity of the Agricultural Credit Corporation. So, for example, in September a dairy farm for 1000 head of cattle was opened in the Pavlodar region. In total, 59 MTFs were launched with the support of the corporation. The total cost of the projects is 68.4 billion tenge, including 45.1 billion tenge - preferential financing through the corporation. The total capacity of the launched projects is 261.2 thousand tons of milk per year.
