In Kazakhstan, microloans are available to entrepreneurs at 6%

The Agricultural Credit Corporation allocated 22.5 billion tenge for microcredit to businesses in the regions. Graduates of state entrepreneurship training programs can become participants in the Business Road Map program and receive loans from microfinance organizations, Zakon.kz reports.

The Agrarian Credit Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Baiterek NMH JSC, funds microfinance organizations for the implementation of the DKZ program. These funds are aimed at financing entrepreneurs engaged in various types of activities, at an annual effective interest rate of 6.16%.

To support business in the regions, ACC has opened credit lines for funding microfinance organizations (MFOs) in the amount of 22.5 billion tenge. ACC partners are 15 microfinance organizations created with the participation of NCE Atameken and local executive bodies. Such microfinance organizations are represented in all regions of the country, except Nur-Sultan and Almaty.

To receive a microloan, you must be a graduate of the Bastau Business project or training courses in the basics of entrepreneurship within the framework of other government programs, and have collateral.

Preferential loans are focused on the business needs of beginning entrepreneurs, small businesses, micro-entrepreneurship, including those developing family and social entrepreneurship. The loan term for projects in the livestock sector is up to seven years, in other industries – up to five years.

Maximum microloan amount: in rural settlements (regardless of their administrative subordination) and small towns - up to 2.5 thousand MCI (7.2 million tenge); in cities, single-industry towns (except Shymkent, Aktau, Atyrau) - up to 6.5 thousand MCI (18.9 million tenge); in Shymkent, Aktau, Atyrau - up to 8 thousand MCI (23.3 million tenge).

Microcredit to small businesses under the Employment Roadmap has already helped implement more than 550 projects across the country. These include grocery and hardware stores, dry cleaners, service stations, mini-bakeries, delis, livestock breeding and much more from the small business segment. The main condition is the creation of at least one workplace.

Thus, more than 60 entrepreneurs of the Mangystau region took advantage of the opportunity to receive a loan at a preferential interest rate of 6% per annum. One of them is a farmer from the village of Tupkaragan district Kuanysh Danshabaev. He took out a loan in the amount of 4 million tenge to purchase six breeding dairy cows.

I will repay the loan for five years. As long as I deposit 20 thousand tenge per month, the grace period will last six months. After its completion, the payment amount will be 94 thousand tenge, but I will try to pay earlier.

A resident of the city of Aktau, Zhanbupe Kurakbaykyzy, opened a children's clothing store in the spring. After completing entrepreneurial courses and studying the DKZ program, I decided to take out a loan from an MFO to purchase a new product.

A loan of 6 million tenge at 6% per annum was taken out to purchase a winter collection of children's clothes. This is the most advantageous offer - interest rates are significantly lower than in second-tier banks.

Another project in the Mangistau region, implemented within the framework of the Business Road Map, is located in the village of Mangistau-3. Anvar Rakhov received a loan in the amount of 4.5 million tenge for a period of three years at 6% per annum and opened a Maksat grocery store.

An excellent opportunity to start your own business. Thanks to this, my wife and I now work for ourselves and receive a stable daily income. Having paid off this loan, I’m thinking of getting a new one and expanding, opening a second location.

Karipilla Akmuradov from the village of Bayandy, Munaylinsky district, Mangistau region, completed training in the Bastau Business program in the spring of 2021. After finishing the course, I decided to build my own business – a service station. Using his own funds, he erected a service station building in the village, but there was not enough money for equipment. The DKZ program helped solve this problem. Having issued a microloan for 7.2 million tenge for a period of five years, Karipilla purchased three lifts, a compressor and other tools.

The service station has been equipped and has been operating for 15 days. Five other craftsmen work here with me, all of them are my fellow villagers. We repair engines and gearboxes and are currently gaining clients. And if everything goes according to my calculations, then I will be able to close the loan ahead of schedule.

Ruslan Eskendir, head of the marketing and PR service of Agrarian Credit Corporation JSC, noted that by implementing the program, ACC promotes microcredit to a wide range of business entities. This, in turn, is reflected in an increase in the level of well-being of citizens in rural areas: new industries are opening, the service sector is developing and jobs are appearing.
