Tomatoes in winter: Pavlodar Region greenhouse completes its first year-round harvest

Agronomist Damir Yerzhanov built a modern greenhouse with ACC support, making fresh vegetables available regardless of the season.

Damir Yerzhanov worked as an agronomist at a large farm for ten years before launching his own year-round greenhouse with drip irrigation and automated climate control.

An ACC investment loan financed construction and equipment. The two-stage project assessment took time, but Damir says that “the experts' questions made us recalculate the business plan and find weak points before the launch rather than afterwards.”

The first winter tomato harvest was sold through stores across the region. Previously, winter vegetables had been imported from neighbouring countries.

Plans include a second greenhouse phase and an in-house packaging line.
