Kazakh farmers can now insure livestock and poultry for short terms of 3 to 9 months

JSC Agrarian Credit Corporation, part of Baiterek Holding's group of companies, announces the launch of additional terms within the voluntary insurance system for the agro-industrial complex, aimed at making insurance protection more accessible and attractive for agricultural producers. This was reported by the company's press service.

Farmers can now take out insurance contracts for farm animals and poultry not only for the traditional one-year period, but also for shorter operational terms of 3, 6 and 9 months.

The move to more flexible time intervals is driven by the need to adapt insurance products to the actual production cycles of enterprises. The innovation makes it possible to fully take into account the specifics of feedlots, breeding farms and other specialised enterprises whose business processes are not tied to a full calendar year. Insurance rates for short-term contracts are calculated in proportion to the base annual rates and depend directly on the number of animals insured. The programme operates throughout Kazakhstan all year round and covers cattle and small ruminants, horses, pigs and poultry.

The insurance products offered are multi-risk in nature and guarantee comprehensive financial protection. They cover a wide range of threats, including outbreaks of infectious and especially dangerous diseases, natural disasters, fires, unlawful acts of third parties, as well as various accidents - from lightning strikes and attacks by wild animals to injuries incompatible with life. Substantial state support remains an important advantage for farmers: under the subsidy scheme, the state covers 80% of the cost of the insurance policy, while the farmer only needs to pay the remaining 20%.

To participate in the programme, agricultural producers must ensure that their animals are registered in the farm animal identification system (ISZh). Applications for insurance cover can be submitted online through the specialised information system for agro-industrial insurance, which operates on the Kezekte.kz platform.
