From livestock to processing: how agribusiness is developing in Ulytau

The Ulytau region branch of JSC Agrarian Credit Corporation is increasing its support for regional businesses. Since 2023, the branch's loan portfolio has grown from 9.4 to 11.6 billion tenge. Today, financing goes to projects across various segments of agribusiness - from livestock and crop production to the processing of agricultural products and food manufacturing. In the past month alone, the branch financed two projects in Zhanaarka district - the "Berikbol" farm and "AL-AN2020" LLP.

The "Berikbol" farm is engaged in raising, fattening and selling farm animals. It is one of the largest fattening operations in Zhanaarka district. Today, the farm keeps 470 head of cattle and 64 horses. It has 1,280 hectares of agricultural land and provides permanent employment for 18 people. The farm has its own production facilities, as well as its own on-site slaughter point.

A distinctive part of "Berikbol"'s activities is the purchase of young stock from local peasant farms. Many farmers in the district sell the young animals they raise to this farm for further fattening and subsequent sale.

The second project is "AL-AN2020" LLP, a company that has been operating in Zhanaarka district since 2020. It produces a wide range of bakery, flour confectionery and ready-made food products at its own bakery plant.

Its finished products are sold through the company's own supermarket and supplied to legal entities under contracts. Customers include kindergartens, organisations and other corporate clients. The bulk of sales, however, goes to individual consumers.

Financing under the "Agrobusiness" programme for the purchase of fixed assets will enable the company to develop its production facilities and increase the output of its own products.

"Ulytau region was established in 2022, and it was important for us to build a full-fledged system of agribusiness support here from the very beginning. The ACC branch began operating in 2023. Since then, the loan portfolio has grown, the client base has expanded and financing volumes have increased. At the same time, we work not only with large projects but also with small farms and entrepreneurs who need financial support to develop their businesses. This approach allows us to cover different areas and the needs of our clients," said Meiram Kudaibergen, Director of the Ulytau Region Branch of Agrarian Credit Corporation.

Financing for spring field work has also grown significantly. In 2023, financing under the "Ken Dala" programme in the region totalled just 20 million tenge. In 2026, 10 clients have already received financing under the "Ken Dala 2" programme for a total of 706 million tenge. The funds helped expand the sown area in Ulytau region to 9.7 thousand hectares, while the total sown area in Ulytau region in 2026 amounts to 33 thousand hectares.

Today, the branch continues to finance projects in livestock, crop production and the processing of agricultural products. Thanks to credit resources, companies in the region are able to upgrade their production facilities, support their current operations and increase production volumes.
