The potential of dairy farming in action

A thousand cows can be milked within 3.5 hours using the modern equipment of KronAgro KH LLP. The dairy farm, opened in the region two years ago, provides permanent jobs for 45 people and supplies the market with 7.2 thousand tons of milk per year.

“The state of the industry directly affects the country’s food security. It is necessary to solve the strategic task of increasing production volumes and increasing the added value of domestic agricultural products,” Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted in his September Address to the people of Kazakhstan.

A modern automated dairy farm, KH KronAgro LLP, opened two years ago in the city of Aksu, Pavlodar region. The cost of the project is 5.8 billion tenge, half of this amount was provided by the Agricultural Credit Corporation. Equipment was purchased with loan funds, construction and installation work was carried out, and 1,200 heifers of the highly productive Simmental breed were imported from Europe.

- In September last year, the farm reached full production capacity and moved into the production stage of the project. The latest high-tech equipment from GEA Westfalia is installed here. A “Carousel” type milking parlor with 40 external milking places makes it possible to milk a thousand heads of cattle within 3.5 hours. In addition, stall equipment, devices for watering, manure removal, and a milk cooling tank were installed,” says Didar Beisenbaev, director of KronAgro Farm LLP.

The farm employs 45 people. In general, the company has 186 employees, who, in addition to the dairy sector, are engaged in the production of crop products.

The farm independently grows most of the necessary feed for cattle. By increasing the production chain from the beginning of sowing, harvesting, storing own feed to receiving and delivering fresh milk, the enterprise reduces the risks of external factors influencing production.

During the implementation of the project, infrastructure was installed here and artificial irrigation was organized on an area of about 2,000 hectares. And to optimize land resources and protect against market price fluctuations, the company grows potatoes, storing them in its own vegetable storage facility with a capacity of 12,000 tons.

- Our next task is to improve the production processes of the enterprise, increase the productivity of feed production and cattle management. To increase milk yield, it is necessary to work on improving the genetic fund of the livestock. I am sure that the republic’s dairy farming has great potential, and we plan to continue working in this direction,” Didar Beisenbaev shared his plans for the future.

Another successful borrower of the Agrarian Credit Corporation is Aktogay-AGRO LLP. The company's dairy farm began operating in mid-September. The farm, designed for 1000 heads, is located in the village of Zholaman, Aktogay region. The cost of the project is 6 billion tenge, including about 5 billion tenge - borrowed funds from Agricultural Credit Corporation JSC.
The new farm was built literally on an open field in two years. The enterprise is equipped with modern equipment and is fully automated. The entire cycle - from feeding, maintaining the temperature in the room to milking the cows - is monitored by one IT operator.

While just over 200 Simmental cows were imported from Europe, the animals are now in quarantine and undergoing adaptation to our climate. By the end of the year it is planned to import about 800 more animals.

Next year the farm plans to reach full capacity. According to the project, it is expected to receive up to 10 thousand liters per year from one cow. According to experts, the new farm will supply the region’s domestic market with 100% milk.
The company employs 80 people, and as the number of livestock increases, the number of workers will increase to one hundred.
The Agrarian Credit Corporation is a large financial institution whose activities are aimed at developing the agricultural sector. The development of livestock farming, including the creation of dairy farms, is a priority area of the Corporation’s activities. In general, the financial institution supported the creation of 59 dairy farms in the republic with a total value of 68.4 billion tenge, of which ACC financing amounted to 45.2 billion tenge.
