From construction to livestock farming

Just ten years ago, Berik Nurmukhambetov headed a successful construction company. The company took part in the construction of a number of social facilities erected in the region. However, despite the success of his business, Berwick always felt a connection to the land and animals. He grew up on a farm and always dreamed of returning to the village.

So in 2013, Berwick took a bold step. Having left the construction business, he invested money, time and enthusiasm in the creation of a new enterprise - the Adil peasant farm, which he opened in the village of Karakoz, Aksu district, Zhetisu region.

“In the same year, with the help of a loan received from the Fund for Financial Support of Agriculture, we purchased 42 heads of cattle and sheep of the Bayys breed. We bought the necessary equipment for the production of feed - a combine, tractors and a baler - on credit received on favorable terms from the Agrarian Credit Corporation,” says the head of the Adil agricultural enterprise, Berik Nurmukhambetov.

Last year, the farmer purchased 150 head of Kalmyk cattle at his own expense. With funds received from the Agricultural Credit Corporation, he purchased another 70 Herefords. Now the farm contains more than 500 heads of cattle, about 600 sheep, and about 100 horses. After fattening, cattle are sold for meat in retail outlets in Almaty.

The story of the Aksu farmer is a vivid example of how government support changes not only the direction of business for one person, but also the destinies of other people. Thus, today the Adil farm provides work to 16 residents of the village of Karakoz.

The Agrarian Credit Corporation continues to finance agricultural producers and rural entrepreneurship. More news from the corporation is in the telegram channel @agrocreditkz.
