How the Aulie-Ata Phoenix poultry farm got back on its feet with the help of the Agricultural Credit Corporation

Once upon a time, no one thought that the Aulie-Ata Phoenix poultry farm would be able not only to conquer the domestic market, but also to export poultry meat to far and near countries. When its current owner Farida Zhunisova bought a frame poultry farm in the Myrzatai rural district of the Bayzak district of the Zhambyl region, she thought: “Are you going to return the destroyed world?” There were quite a few of them, but the businesswoman did not back down. He put the company back on its feet and resumed its work. The development of his business was helped by a preferential loan from the Agricultural Credit Corporation.

The bird factory, as the name suggests, resembles a phoenix bird, was rebuilt in 2016. After the restoration of the building, of which only a skeleton remained, the head of the enterprise was faced with the task of equipping it with modern equipment. This required a lot of money. In search of a source of financing, the owner of the plant turned  to the Agricultural Credit Corporation.

“In 2018, we received a loan in the amount of 658 million tenge under the then Agroexport program and purchased modern equipment and agricultural machinery necessary for poultry breeding in the Netherlands. This allowed us to increase production capacity. We will produce 5 thousand tons of poultry meat per year. After modernizing the technology, meat production increased to 7 thousand tons,”  says Ilyas Duysen, deputy director of Aulie-Ata Phoenix LLP.

The territory of the poultry farm occupies 536 hectares. There are 18 poultry farms. The company produces 37 types of chicken products. About 3 million birds are slaughtered every year. The chicks were fed wheat and corn and weighed no more than two kilograms. This is a requirement of the international standard. According to the deputy director, Aulie-Ata Phoenix does not supply only the domestic market with chicken. Last year, 400 tons of products were exported to the neighboring Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. This is about five percent of total production.

After the launch of production for the domestic market and export with state support, the financial condition of the enterprise improved, and its potential began to increase. As a result, the condition of the workers also improved. Currently, 247 citizens work at the poultry farm. Most of them are local residents. Employees receive their salaries on time. They are also provided with a thirteenth salary. The average salary is 149 thousand tenge.

The owner of Aulie-Ata Phoenix intends to receive another loan  from the Agricultural Credit Corporation in the amount of 1 billion tenge to expand the plant.  We are going to build a new building, purchase equipment abroad, and increase the number of poultry farms to 24.

“If we receive funds, we plan to strengthen the technical base and increase the volume of poultry meat production to 12 thousand tons. Getting a loan through  the Agricultural Loan Corporation has its benefits.  For example, a loan is exempt from repayment for up to two years. However, we only took a break for a year. Ideal for medium sized companies. A year is enough time to come to your senses. After that, you repay the loan on time at six percent every quarter,”  says Ilyas Duysen, deputy director of Aulie-Ata Phoenix LLP.

The Agricultural Credit Corporation financed 19 poultry farms across the country for 36 billion tenge. In recent years, the branch in Zhambyl region has provided loans in the amount of 4 billion tenge for 6 large projects in the region, such as a poultry farm. Now the branch serves about 9 thousand entrepreneurs producing agricultural products.
