During the off-season, the population of Kazakhstan produces about 175 thousand tons of cucumbers and tomatoes, but only 60-65% of them are domestically produced. Consequently, farmers involved in growing vegetables indoors have room to grow. The head of West Kazakhstan LLP “Terekti Onimderi” Nariman Kupeshov knows this well. Therefore, the financier, who worked in a bank for about 15 years, decided to start an agricultural business. In 2018, in the village of Aitiev, Terektinsky district, the company built 2 farm greenhouses of 9 acres each. This is how the agribusiness of the Terektinsky entrepreneur began. To develop its own business, the company twice applied for a preferential loan from the Agricultural Credit Corporation. “Of course, I calculated everything in advance, because I am a financier. I have been studying the greenhouse industry for 5-6 years now, getting acquainted with the work of small and industrial greenhouses in Russia and Uzbekistan, local enterprises. I received a loan from the Corporation under the Agribusiness program - a very convenient universal program for any areas of agriculture. Now I have 5 greenhouses with a total area of 50 acres. I sow cucumbers and gherkins of the Dutch variety. Previously, we tried to plant tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, arugula and other crops. But in the end we settled on cucumbers - sustainable and in demand in our region. Harvest we receive twice a year, each season we collect about 50-60 tons,” says the farmer.
