How to turn a hundred sheep into a thousand

In the village of Azat, Akkol district, Akmola region, the number of sheep of the Edilbay breed is successfully increasing. The farmer, who started his business with a hundred heads, increased the number of sheep to a thousand in a year. The plans are to increase the number of small cattle to 5 thousand heads. To implement his business plan, the head of the farm turned to the Agricultural Credit Corporation for help.

The peasant farm "Toly service" has 2 thousand hectares of its own land, where sheep graze throughout the summer.

“In 2019, we built a livestock breeding base in the village of Azat. We bought about 100 heads of sheep of the Edilbay breed. Animals of this breed are hardy in the harsh Akmola winter. The sheep are large and fertile, which is why the choice fell on this breed,” says Ainur, a representative of the peasant farm Tashenova.

In winter, animals need to be well fed, and to provide for a thousand livestock this is a serious expense. To purchase feed this year, the farm turned to the Agricultural Credit Corporation. We took out a microloan under the Isker program and purchased animal feed.

“We again turned to the corporation for funds to increase the livestock. Under the Agribusiness program, additional funding was requested for the purchase of agricultural equipment. The corporation has approved the business project, we will get down to business soon,” says a representative of the farm.

This year, under the Isker program, 35.5 billion tenge were issued to domestic farmers. Of these, 613 million tenge were allocated to projects of Amkolin farmers.

JSC "Agrarian Credit Corporation" is a subsidiary of the National Management Holding "Baiterek". Since 2001, it has been providing preferential loans on favorable terms for the development of agribusiness. Loan programs and contact numbers of branches can be found on the website agrocredit.kz.
